    TEACHER’S ASSISTANT

    Report to: Lead Teacher and Supervisor

    • Daily Reporting and Record Keeping – Attendance, Allergy, Medication, Communication Logs
    • Assist in planning an engaging curriculum based on children’s interests
    • Assist in the educational and social development of children under the direction and guidance of Westpark, and classroom teachers
    • Provide support for children in the classroom and enable them to fully participate in activities
    • Maintain up-to-date emergency cards, attendance, and health and safety checks
    • Work with professionals, such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Early Interventionists as necessary
    • Plan programs and curriculum in accordance with “How Does Learning Happen?”
    • Support children through transitions in and out of the classrooms
    • Manage and maintain an orderly classroom – follow cleaning schedules and room routines
    • Meet all classroom ratios as outlined in CCEYA
    • Participate and interact in team meetings and workshops
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels with children, coworkers, and parents
    • Ability to work on Sandbox system for all documentation, reporting, and classroom operations
    • Supportive attitude, and ability to provide emotional, physical, or behavioral support to children

    COOK

    Report to: Supervisor
    Job Type: Full Time
    Duties: This job description describes general terms and responsibilities that employees will be expected to undertake; however, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post due to business needs.

    • Preparing all meals in accordance with all health regulations, and ensure food is properly cooked
    • Responsible for removal of food and collection of plates and utensils at each scheduled meal
    • Washing and sanitizing all dishes, utensils, and putting the dishes away for all scheduled meals
    • Compiling weekly inventories of food in preparation for the upcoming week
    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, and storage area. Taking out the garbage as required
    • Responsible for cooking and preparing the predetermined menu, and substituting any meals for children with sensitivities or dietary restrictions. All substitutions will require approval, and they must meet the same nutritional value
    • Responsible for posting the menus, and substitutes, if made during the day. May assist in creating menus from time to time
    • Responsible for ensuring all Individual Care Plans (ICP) are posted in the kitchen, are up-to-date, and accurate
    • Staff must understand all ICP’s, allergies and food restrictions for every child. All food must be prepared according to these plans
    • Receive all food and cleaning deliveries and ensure they are accurate with purchase order
    • Responsible for water flushing every Monday. Must be completed prior to the centre opening at 7:00am and recorded on the kitchen log book
    • Responsible for making daily bleach solutions for all classrooms
    • Ratio coverage, and support in the classroom when needed
    • Follow all cleaning schedules as set up by Westpark

    • Plan and develop program webs in line with children’s interests. Monthly calendars will be provided so that teachers are able to create a program that meets all targets to engage all children
    • Programming must be child directed, and teacher supported in accordance with “How Does Learning Happen?”
    • Support children with emotional, physical, or behavioral problems and help develop their social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills
    • Provide support for children in the classroom and enable them to fully participate in activities
    • Maintain up-to-date emergency cards, attendance, and health and safety checks
    • Work with professionals, such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Early Interventionists as necessary
